Trans Pride Season
2019
Our biggest Trans Pride Season to date.
The programme featured an Edinburgh Fringe preview of Hearty by Emma Frankland, and the latest work by award-winning performance artist and prominent queer voice Travis Alabanza, I Tried To Fuck Up The System But None Of My Friend’s Texted Back.
International performance artist Krishna Istha also joined us to present their first foray into stand-up comedy, Beast. On top of that, we hosted Trans Fats, a Trans Pride special from Marlborough favourites FAT Cabaret, and were treated to dance artist Es Morgan’s show Mum, I’m in the Fourth Dimension See!
Finally we commissioned four cabaret artists to perform new acts at what has become our annual flagship event and party Trans Pride Art Night; and presented a Trans Swearing Night hosted by acclaimed author Juno Dawson, where those under the trans umbrella could rant, rave and rage in an open mic format.
Alongside our performance programme, we hosted Sophie Labelle, author and artist of viral webcomic Assigned Male, as our Trans Pride Writer in Residence, and offered a programme of participatory workshops.
