Black History, Our History.

QHS & BARCO

Sat 10 Oct 11am

Venue The Wing, Brighton Centre

Location BN1 2GR

Tickets Free

Duration 10 hours, 30 minutes

This Black History Month, BARCO Brighton and Hove is taking over The Wing at Brighton Centre and Queer Heritage South is delighted to be apart of the occasion.

Join our Project and Volunteer Coordinator, Bianca Fogah (She/they), and Digital Archive Assistant, Siqing Zhan (She/they), as they’ll be on hand from 11 am to help you create black history bunting and put a stamp on what black history means to you!

At 4:15 pm we will be hosting a talk about archiving and its power within the community. Discover how they have helped create a digital archive and tips to preserve the past, present and future. We will also be creating Zines and letting you see what it’s like to make and collect history in real time.
The event is spread over two floors, expect to find two days of workshops and talks, as well as a brilliant showcase of local organisations and businesses, a cozy creative space, delicious food, music and theatre performances, and more! It promises to be a day considering the Black history of the whole city, and celebrating the future of Black excellence.
