We are looking for a writer to take residence during Trans Pride, one of the most inspiring weeks of the year in Brighton. The selected writer will be based at the beating heart of Brighton’s LGBTQ+ community, The Marlborough Pub & Theatre. We hope to find a writer who will find this context inspiring and respond imaginatively to our vibrant community.
We are inviting writers to respond to the performances and events taking place across the Trans Pride week, in whatever format they desire. You might be a poet, fiction writer, essayist or memoirist, what we are interested in is innovative, accessible writing to the events of the week. The work can be published on The Marlborough Theatre’s website, made into a zine, presented as a live writing exercise or in any other medium – we are open to suggestions. The successful writer will receive a mentoring session with Dean Atta, Guest Artistic Director at New Writing South and will be invited to lead a writing workshop in associate with Trans Pride Brighton during the residency week.
Due to the nature of the opportunity, we are only inviting applications from writers who identify as trans, non-binary or genderfluid.
To apply please fill out the application form: http://bit.ly/transpridewriting
Deadline: Mon 11th June at midday. The successful candidate will be selected by representatives from The Marlborough Theatre, New Writing South, Trans Pride and the Centre for the Study of Sexual Dissidence.
